Healthy honey bees are essential for beekeeping and for a sustainable society. Pure, natural Alberta honey is only part of what’s at stake. Alberta honey bees also provide pollination services that are essential for food production, a role that is quite literally irreplaceable.
Over the past decade, Alberta honey bees experienced a significant health crisis. Research and evolving beekeeping practices have allowed us to regain the health of our honey bee populations. That’s great news, but the work of ensuring bee health amid a shifting disease landscape goes on.
