On January 12, 2022, the ABC received a letter from the Alberta Agricultural Products Marketing Council (Marketing Council) requesting that the ABC hold a special Commission meeting at its earliest convenience to conduct a vote of producers with respect to the draft ABC bylaws. As per section 24(a) of the Alberta Beekeepers Commission Plan Regulation, ABC must hold a special Commission meeting when requested to do so by the Marketing Council. Based on the approval process outlined in the Plan Regulation, they are to be approved by producers at either an annual Commission meeting or special Commission meeting.
