After an extremely challenging year for many families, beekeepers, businesses, industries, and the world, we are pleased to announce that we are planning to host the 87th Annual Alberta Beekeepers Commission Annual Conference & Trade Show event this year – in person – at the Fantasyland Hotel.

As the world slowly starts move towards safely easing COVID-19 restrictions, we are looking ahead to this year’s event and working towards welcoming back our beekeepers and valued  industry supporters at out November Conference & Trade Show event.

This event is often viewed as one of the standout annual events on the beekeeping calendar by our producers, providing them with the opportunity to take a well-earned break after a busy season and the opportunity to connect with friends, other beekeepers, industry, and suppliers from across the province and the world.

Having said that, our event will be sure to look a little different this year. As we continue to navigate this evolving landscape, we want to let you know that we are working hard to create a great event for beekeepers and the industry, and we look forward to welcoming you in some capacity this year!

ABC Annual General Meeting

Wednesday, November 24, 2021, 1:00pm –  5:00pm, Fantasyland Hotel Edmonton

The Alberta Beekeepers Commission Annual General Meeting (AGM) is taking place at the Fantasyland Hotel, Edmonton on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, 1:00pm –  5:00pm.


To support eligible producers in presenting resolutions at the AGM, and to enable the effective operation of the AGM, ABC is requesting resolutions be completed and submitted prior to the meeting. To submit a resolution for the 2021 Alberta Beekeepers Commission AGM, please download and complete this AGM Resolutions Submission Form.

All resolutions must be submitted at least 10 days prior to the AGM scheduled on November 24, 2021.

Nominations for the 2021/2022 ABC Board of Directors

The Alberta Beekeepers Commission (ABC) is seeking four new board members to join the ABC Board of Directors this November 2021. The ABC board of directors is comprised of nine directors as outlined in the ABC Plan Regulation, including:

  • 4 regional directors, one regional director being elected for each region;
  • 2 Directors at Large;
  • one director who is the President of the Commission;
  • one director who is the Vice President of the Commission;
  • one director to represent the Commission at the Canadian Honey Council.

We are seeking nominations from 2021 Eligible Producers for the following positions:

  • Regional Director: South
  • Regional Director: North East
  • Regional Director: North West
  • Regional Director: Peace
  • One CHC Delegate

If you or another eligible producer you know are looking to take an active role in supporting a healthy and sustainable beekeeping industry, nominate now for ABC Director. As a director of ABC, you will be required to provide direction for the health of the industry by participating in regular board meetings (4-6 a year), monthly teleconferences, board committees, and support other organizational efforts of ABC.

As per the Alberta Beekeepers Commission Plan Regulations, nominations for the position of director may also be made on the floor at the at 2019 AGM where the election for the positions are to be conducted, provided that:

    • the nomination is seconded by at lease five eligible producers present at the meeting, and the eligible producer being nominated gives his or her oral consent to being nominated.
